PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: 28 May 2026

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect when you visit chaletswissdream.com or book a stay with us, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, and what rights you have over it. We try to keep things simple. If anything isn't clear, write to us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

1. WHO WE ARE

This website is operated by Swiss Dream Living ("Chalet Swiss Dream", "we", "us"), registered in Switzerland as Swiss OpenAI GmbH. We are the data controller responsible for any personal information collected through this site or through your bookings.

2. WHAT WE COLLECT, AND WHY

When you visit the website

We collect a limited amount of technical information automatically — your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the device you're using. This is standard for any modern website and we use it only to understand which pages work and which don't, and to keep the site safe from abuse.

When you make a booking or inquiry

To take a reservation or respond to an inquiry, we need:

- Your full name

- Email address and phone number

- Number of guests and their names (for the chalet's guest register, which Swiss hospitality law requires)

- Dates of your stay

- Any preferences or accessibility needs you choose to share

- Payment information (handled directly by Stripe — see section 4)

When you message us

If you contact us by email, WhatsApp, or through a contact form, we keep that conversation so we can help you well — both before and during your stay, and in case we need to reference it later.

When you use cookies on the site

Our site uses a small number of cookies. Some are strictly necessary (they let the site function — the booking calendar, the search form, your session). Others help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. None of them are used for advertising or tracking you across other sites.

3. WHY WE USE THIS INFORMATION

Specifically, your information is used to:

- Process and confirm your reservation

- Communicate with you before, during, and shortly after your stay

- Comply with Swiss hospitality law (guest registration, tourist tax reporting)

- Send you a follow-up email or message if we think a future offer might interest you — and only if you've previously stayed or inquired with us. You can unsubscribe at any time.

- Keep the website running, secure, and improving

We do not sell your information to anyone. Ever.

4. WHO ELSE SEES YOUR INFORMATION

We work with a small number of trusted service providers who help us run the business. They only ever see the data they need to do their job, and they're contractually bound to protect it. These include:

- Hostaway — our property management and booking platform (data processor)

- Stripe — handles your payment details directly; we never see your card number

- Google Workspace — our email is hosted by Google in the EU; any correspondence you send us is stored there

We may also share information when legally required (Swiss tax authorities, law enforcement with a valid request) or when necessary to defend our legitimate rights — but these situations are rare.

5. WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED

Your data is processed and stored in Switzerland and the European Union. If any of our service providers transfer data outside the EU/Switzerland, they do so under standard contractual clauses that ensure equivalent protection — as required by both Swiss nFADP and EU GDPR.

6. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

We keep your information only as long as we need it:

- Booking records: 10 years (Swiss accounting law requires this)

- Guest register details: as required by local hospitality regulations

- Inquiry messages: up to 3 years, then deleted

- Website analytics: up to 14 months in aggregated form

- Marketing list: until you unsubscribe

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Under Swiss nFADP and EU GDPR, you have the right to:

- Know what data we hold about you

- Access a copy of it

- Correct anything that's wrong

- Delete it (in most cases — except where we're legally required to keep records, like accounting)

- Object to certain uses, like marketing

- Withdraw consent for anything you previously agreed to

- Complain to a supervisory authority (in Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner at https://www.edoeb.admin.ch/; in the EU: your national data protection authority)

To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the address below. We'll respond within 30 days.

8. HOW WE KEEP YOUR DATA SAFE

We use industry-standard security: encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the entire site, strong passwords and two-factor authentication on our admin accounts, and reputable service providers who maintain their own certifications. No system is perfect — but we take it seriously, and if something ever goes wrong, we'll tell you within 72 hours, as the law requires.

9. CHILDREN

Our services are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have data on a minor, please contact us and we'll delete it.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We'll update this policy from time to time. Substantial changes will be flagged at the top of this page and, where relevant, communicated to recent guests by email. The "last updated" date at the top tells you when it last changed.
